Racism in America is here to stay

In today’s American society racism is growing. Although we say it has gotten better, it really hasn’t. We tend to look back into the past and compare how times are now versus back then. While things have improved such as there no longer being Jim Crow laws and segregation, there are still prejudices that go on today. But, I believe the idea of racism being totally wiped out in America is ridiculous and will never happen.

Current events have shown that racism is still a huge issue in America. Recently, there have been anti semitic protests at Columbia University due to the recent issues going between Palestine and Israel. Ilan Sinelnikov, the president and founder of a pro-Israel student movement called Students Supporting Israel (SSI), told Fox News that history is repeating itself. You see, history will always repeat itself. We view racist groups such as the Nazis who’s ideology appalls any rational human being yet the Nazi ideology is rearing its ugly head in America today.

Other current events like the cases of George Floyd and Ahmaud Arbery prove that racism is here to stay in America. George Floyd was a victim of police brutality from a white officer. Ahmaud Arbery was a victim of a hate crime done by three white men. Racism still lives in this country.

If you’re wondering if anything will get better my answer is, I don’t know. But what I do know is the way we can help improve this country's racism problem is by leading by example. If you possibly see someone being racially targeted then take action in the best way possible.
